This is as political as I want to get

... Then DON'T vote! We have just as much freedom in this country to NOT vote as we do TO vote. If your conscience dictates ambivalence toward any candidate, then honor your conscience by refraining your vote. If you vote despite this, you are being hypocritical. A non-vote also counts in the election statistics. A silent act is still powerful.

I'm leaning toward not voting for any presidential candidate. And I'm proud of it.

And for the record, Donald and Hillary are not the only candidates on the ballot, you know!

It's just all so much right now.

I just read a FB post from a friend living in Haiti. She states that the US has moved on to newer news and the hurricane devastation in her country is now old news here.

The truth is terrible news like Haiti's is happening all over the world, in practically every country. Ravages of the drug cartel in Mexico. Syria. Hell, the Middle East. Sex trafficking in Asia. And everywhere else, too. Joseph Koney all over Africa. Extremely extreme poverty in India. Social oppression in North Korea. Those are just what comes to my mind right now. If we gave due attention in our news here to all the ills of global societies and cultures, not only would we be so inundated as to not have room for literally any other information, but we would experience a rapid rise in suicide rates... just from the sheer depression of it all.

We have not forgotten Haiti. Or Africa, or Mexico, or India, Asia, Syria, et al. We're not quite that self-absorbed. We're desperately trying to carefully choose the right Presidential representative who can help alleviate these global problems, that also affect us.

At least that's what I'd like to think.

I feel like Mark Watney... except everyone at home could care less

Being unique means nothing.

Being unique in this American culture - and maybe not just America, either - is actually ironic. Being unique means being like all the other "unique" people... which by definition means you're really not unique. What a waste.

The truly unique people - the ones who stand out as the only representation of themselves - are disdained. There is no place for them. Which makes sense actually, Because we only make places in social contexts for people. Which means unique people must stand alone, for there is no one like them, and therefore no social context for them. Not even in the "unique" group. Because even the unique people don't find enough common ground with each other and end up ostracizing.

God, it must be awful being a foreigner with no knowledge of the language or culture you're in, nor any one nationally familiar to you. I think I know that feeling.

It feels good to get this out.
